This is Katherine’s answer to the traditional “brown liquor” drinks. As she is not a fan of scotches or bourbons, she found herself feeling a bit left out when the crowd would order Manhattans. The Martinez has a long history, even being the precursor to the Martini in some lores.

We find that having an extraordinary drink requires extraordinary ingredients and in this case, the cherry is key. Our preferred maraschino cherry comes from Tillen Farms, and is available direct from them (we’ve also seen them at Whole Foods Market). Maybe pricier than the neon-red ones but they are totally worth it.  We even gave a jar to all of our friends this Christmas to ensure that they’ll have them when we stop by…
